I need a weight loss partner

Have you been using someone else, or the lack of, as your excuse for not starting a weight loss program? The unfortunate reality is that the more crutches you need to accomplish your goal the more likely you will be to quit.

If you think that you must rely on someone else to keep you motivated you will have just created an artificial obstacle that you need to overcome. The first time your workout buddy cannot make it to an exercise session you will be tempted to say that you need your workout partner so you will also take the time off.

Being your own motivation keeps you from faltering at the first sign of confusion or disappointment from your support system.

If you are your own motivation system for your workouts you will always be available to support your own activities. If you rely on someone else for your support you may find yourself not pushing to new limits. You may also find that your workout partner is not be paying attention to your specific needs. They may encourage you to push beyond what is safe.

If you find that you are not really sure what you should be doing for your workout consulting with a personal trainer or work out partner can be beneficial. These people are good to use for information and temporary motivation but you must not rely on someone else or a personal trainer for all your support.
